Alerts
Get notified by email or Slack when a monitored journey needs attention.
How Alerts Work
When you save a journey, GhostClick creates a starter set of alert rules for it automatically. Each rule watches for one specific thing and, when it fires, sends a notification with a link straight to the audit that triggered it.
Trigger Types
- Journey failed — the run didn't complete the goal. Fires immediately.
- Goal not confirmed — the agent reached the end of the journey, but the expected completion signal never appeared. This catches silent failures, where a checkout looks finished but didn't actually go through. Fires immediately.
- Metric spike — the number of steps the agent needed jumped well above the journey's usual baseline. To avoid noise from a one-off blip, this only fires after two consecutive runs show the same spike.
- New obstacle — a run hits noticeably more interruptions (popups, banners, and similar) than its baseline.
- Campaign claim not met — only relevant if the journey has a traffic source attached; fires when the landing page no longer matches what the linked ad or email promised. See Traffic source verification.
- Platform incident — Shopify or Cloudflare has reported an incident that could affect storefronts, and we ran a check on your store. This one fires whether the check passed or failed, because "they're down and you're fine" is usually the answer you wanted. See Platform status watch.
Cooldowns
Each trigger type has its own cooldown per journey, so a flapping check doesn't spam your inbox — once a rule has fired, it won't fire again for the same reason on the same journey for several hours, even if every run in between also matches the condition.
Email Alerts
Email is the primary channel and is available on Growth and up — alerts go to your account email by default. On a journey's settings, you can override this with a different address (or a comma-separated list) if you want alerts for a specific journey to go somewhere else, like a shared team inbox. Starter includes monitoring without alerts: the journey page and dashboard still show every result.
Slack Alerts
GhostClick can also post alerts to Slack on Pro and up. The content is the same either way, including the "Likely fix" panel below. Workspace connection is still marked Coming soon in Settings while we finish rolling it out; once it's there, connecting a workspace and choosing a channel is all that's needed for journeys to start posting.
Info
Webhook Alerts
Webhook alerts are listed on the Scale plan, but they aren't built yet — there's nowhere to add an endpoint and nothing is sent. Treat it as coming, not as something to plan around. Email and Slack are the two channels that work today.
Run Notifications
Alerts are for journeys you're monitoring. Run notifications are for the audit you just started and don't want to sit and watch.
On a running audit, click Notify me when it's ready and your browser tells you when the report lands. Your browser asks for permission the first time. Where push notifications are available, it arrives even if you close the tab — start a run, go and do something else, and get pulled back when there's something to read. Otherwise it arrives while the tab is still open. The control tells you which of the two you're getting.
Monitored runs are treated differently on purpose: they notify you only when they fail. A journey quietly passing every two hours is not news, and a notification every two hours is how people stop reading notifications.
The "Likely Fix" Panel
If a journey fails a couple of runs in a row, GhostClick's advisor automatically reviews the journey configuration and its recent runs, and suggests the change most likely to get it passing again. This shows up two places:
- As a Likely fix panel on the journey page and on the audit report itself
- Included directly in the failure alert email or Slack message, so you don't have to open the app to see the recommendation
The suggestion includes a short title, an explanation, and a specific action you can apply — for example, tightening a constraint or rewording part of the goal.
Managing Alert Rules
From a journey's settings you can turn individual triggers on or off, and set or change the notification email address. Alert rules apply to any run of that journey — a scheduled run, a theme-publish trigger, or you clicking Run now — not only automatic ones. A one-off audit that was never saved as a journey has no alert rules and won't send a notification; its result only appears on the report page.
